The three-day Summer Leadership Institute is for high school students who wish to gain a better understanding of leadership within the various contexts of the college experience. The Summer Youth Institute (SYI) is designed to introduce middle and high school students from the city of Milwaukee to the legal system, expose them to careers in law, and provide them with practical tools for achieving their educational goals. The SYI is open to students who will enter the eighth, ninth or 10th grade next fall. Both residential and half-day programs are offered, with a variety of topics covered and grade levels served. Programs are taught by our engineering faculty, and are all supported by current Marquette engineering students, allowing participants a chance to see what life is like as a Marquette Engineer. Our programs engage students in critical thinking, teamwork and the engineering design process to provide an appreciation of how science and math work as tools for creative problem-solving in the world of engineering. The Opus College of Engineering offers a variety of opportunities for high school students to learn more about engineering and how it is used to solve real-world problems. Tuition: Programs start at $1,200 and includes lodging, meals, all course materials, activities, and excursions. Living on Campus: Double occupancy in a shared suite (if COVID protocols permit, otherwise single occupancy).
